Weirdest Planets Discovered Outside Our Solar System

Everyone is familiar with the eight planets of our solar system. Some may also know the names of some planetoids, or "Dwarf Planets," the most controversial of which is Pluto, in our solar system. But our solar system is far from alone in the Milky Way. A small number of exoplanets discovered over the past three decades have become household names. Some notable planets and planetary systems include Proxima Centauri b, the TRAPPIST 1 system, 51 Pegasi b, 55 Cancri e, and Kelt 9b. For those who do not understand what the term exoplanet means, it simply refers to any planet that completes an orbit around an alien star. Astronomers have also discovered exoplanets that do not orbit a stellar object at all. From just over 6,000 confirmed exoplanets as of September 22nd, 2025, I have compiled a list of some of the weirdest ones discovered to date. 1.
